Is it Diwali already? #MicroblogMondays

Diwali Diyas

The festive season has kicked in and this week all the celebrations would be in full gear. Diwali starts today with Dhanteras and the main celebration is on Wednesday. I realised that as a family, we do not follow many Diwali traditions. Our celebrations are concentrated around the Lakshmi Pooja. That is it. May be that is the reason it does not feel festive enough yet. 🙁

Yesterday, as the public areas in our housing complex were lit up with fairy lights, my daughter looked at them and many other  homes sporting the twinkling lights. “Why isn’t our house lit up?”, she asked. “I will get the lights a day before Diwali honey”, was what I told her.

This morning, as I was picking out an outfit for work, I swapped my trousers and top for a more traditional tunic and palazzo pants. Let us kick in the celebrations with that I told myself. Tomorrow, I will clean and decorate the house so that we are ready to welcome Goddess Lakshmi into our home on Diwali!

  1. Someone in one of my Facebook groups shared a candle picture, with the caption “#Diwali, November 11 2015. A very powerful Day. Since the ancient times, #India celebrated the blessings of Light even though this time of year the Nights grow bigger. The day symbolises the eternal Light that burns in our Hearts and illuminates our Souls and Dreams.” Sounds like a beautiful holiday – bright blessings to you!

  2. HI Ankita – honestly, very glad to connect with you, the most pressing reason being our proximity. It opens up so many avenues of collaboration – personally and otherwise!

Let’s meet up for Diwali! Hearty season’s greetings to you and your family!

  3. Ya, it’s Diwali already, my feeling too..
we kickstarted celebrations by purchasing Diyas. Even my son is waiting when I will buy crackers and I think, we get the festive feeling when crackers are in! Even for us, Lakshmi puja is very important for Diwali.
