Knitted Tales by Rubina Ramesh #BookReview and a Giveaway

Knitted Tales

Rubina Ramesh – the lady behind TBC or The Book Club is a multi talented lady! I knew her as someone very capable going by the efficient way in which she runs the all the Blog Tours. I was pleasantly surprised to know she is a writer too and that her book was born out of the NaNoWriMo effort. Of course I had to read Knitted Tales: A Collection of Emotions.

Plot of Knitted Tales

The book is an anthology of short tales, each with a different emotion. As per Goodreads blurb…

What forces an innocent girl to become a sex symbol? Her desires? Or cruel fate? Is a lifetime enough—for avenging a betrayal? How do you hide secrets that never stopped haunting you? Can vengeance and secrets of your past devastate your present? How can long-buried crimes of yours suddenly raise their head? Can sinning be saving? Is your spouse your soulmate? What if they never understood your feelings? Can you still live with them? Lastly, does life give only two options? Live or die? What if there is a third?

In her debut anthology, Rubina Ramesh tries to find answers to these questions that are often from the heart and yet makes the mind ponder over the solution. Or is it the other way round? Either way, Knitted Tales is a bouquet of emotions that is bound to touch both your head and your heart.

What I Liked about Knitted Tales

I found this book to be a delightful anthology where the author weaves a web of human emotions that are usually left unexplored. Rubina creates characters that are real and believable. However, because they often put themselves before the other or find themselves thrown into unusual situations, you have a mix of unusual stories. Rubina shocks with her portrayal of motherhood (this story gave me goosebumps), she inspires with the tale of tolerance and compassion and at the end of the book, leaves you wanting more!!!

What I Did Not Like about Knitted Tales

I said Rubina leaves you wanting more… and I am not kidding. There is a sense of mystery in most stories. As someone who indulges the author when they meander a bit, giving a little bit of extra back story, some irrelevant but interesting details about the characters, I felt Rubina was too crisp in her stories. I finished the book way too soon and a little launguid pace would have been nice.

Final Thoughts about Knitted Tales

As a wannabe author, I understand the meaning of a debut. Being a part of TBC, I would obviously support Rubina. Those were the reasons I picked the book. But, the reason I would reccomend it to others is completely different. If you like good writing, if you like good stories, if you like a book that is not easy to put down, if you like a book that makes you think, then you should read Knitted tales.

  1. I am totally humbled by your review Ankita. I was feeling a bit tired with all the work and thought of calling it a day without working on my upcoming novel. Your words gave me a zeal to reopen my laptop and start over again. This is what a review means to an author. The adrenalin flow. Thank you for this.

Hope you enjoyed reading this post. Let me know your thoughts :)
