Phew! – #MicroblogMondays #MondayMusings

We moved homes this week. Although the new place was not very far from the old one, it still took us three days pf backbreaking labour and a weekend of odd jobs that kept us on our feet throughout. On top of all that, my daughter fell ill on Friday night. It was our first night in the new home. Among all that, we still managed to get the house into a decent livable condition. Even my photoframes and paintings are up on the walls. This is a huge achievement considering it took us 10 months to do that in our last home! We had 201 boxes including furniture and are down to the last 6. On this monday morning, as I make the mental switch from organising wardrobes to organising my calendar, all I can say is PHEW!!!

Tired
All Tired!!

Have you moved homes recently? What was your experience like?

  2. Lovely post, reminded me of the times we used to move every two years, when my husband was serving in the Indian Navy 🙂 I thought we had a lot of boxes, 35 but yours beat mine, hands down 🙂

    1. Oh that must have been tough… every two years… come think of it, we have been moving every 2 years since 2010 as well…! You fit your entire household in 35 boxes??? wow! How did you do that?

  3. 201 boxes? Really? OMG! Glad you did that. Phew louder is the word!

    I haven’t moved so I don’t know if I ever have to – what will I do? 😉

    1. Hehe… yes… 201 boxes. We made an inventory 🙂 If you ever have to move, reach out to me and I will share the details of the movers and packers we used… They were fab!

  4. Impressive! We moved into our most current residence (we’ve moved about two dozen times in the almost thirty years we’ve been together, for a variety of reasons) just about three years ago, and we still have unpacked boxes. Sounds like you did an amazing job getting settled in.

    1. I was stuck at 30 years Traci! Congratulations…! I had great help else this would not have been possible…
We still have 3 unpacked boxes from the last move… that was more than a year ago… so I have been to both ends of the spectrum 🙂

  5. Hi, I came across your blog through Write Tribe’s #MondayMusings.
    Glad I stopped by. 🙂

Yes, we moved recently, actually just 2 weeks back. However, I so wish it would have taken us only a weekend to settle in.
You hanged picture frames on Day 1? That is superb. I was glad that we were able to fix the kitchen basics and a bed on the first day. Picture frames only got our attention after a week. 😛

    1. Hey.. welcome to the blog Shantala! We took a VERY Long time settle in last time. So this time I wanted to do as much as possible on day 1,2 and 3 🙂

If you got your pictures hung in a week, that is pretty decent..!

  6. Sounds exhausting. Good for you tackling all those boxes. All the best in your new home. I haven’t had to move for a long time and I like it that way since I was a military kid and moving every two to three years was a way of life. I’m glad to stay put for a change.

  7. Moving fills me with dread so it has been a long time since we’ve moved. Congratulations on getting resettled so quickly!

Hope you enjoyed reading this post. Let me know your thoughts :)
