A few days back, a Mumbai based Twitter Community asked us to post pictures of beautiful Mumbai. I found some in my stash and looking at these made me want to go do a Mumbai Darshan right away! For the uninitiated Mumbai Darshan is a popular name for a city tour of Mumbai.
Spectacular Sunset at Vashi Creek
Mumbai boasts of some spectacular sunsets. This one is pure Gold! Some of the sunsets I remember have painted the city in hues of coral and orange. Divine truly…
Taj Mahal Hotel, Gateway of India
An iconic building, often used as the establishingย shot for Mumbai in movies and serials. It is a building that is tightly coupled with the history and heart of Mumbai. More so after the 26/11 attacks. I have heard stories where people came forward and offered voluntary services to repair this beautiful hotel after the attack.
Sailboats at Gateway of India
Mumbai’s equivalent of San Francisco’s Pier39! The Gateway of India is not only a boarding point for Ferry rides, it is also a great place to hang out and view the sailboats.
Girgaum Chowpatty
Girgaum Chowpatty, a beach that has risen from the ashes like a Phoenix. It had become filthy and was a hub of anti social elements before a massive cleaning drive. Today, it is one of the most popular beaches in the city where families picnic!
I started the A to Z Challenge thinking I had chosen storytelling as a theme. Twenty-six posts later, I realised I had been writing about people, survival, identity, discomfort, and the stories we tell ourselves to keep going.
We call it a fresh start, a new chapter, ground zero. But sometimes the story of starting over is less about becoming someone new, and more about finding the courage to begin while carrying everything we always carry.
Sometimes, Yes doesnโt arrive as a decision. It arrives as duty, peacekeeping, family expectation, and survival. Then, years later, we call it โhow things wentโ because that is easier to live with.
What looks like warmth from the outside often feels like responsibility from the inside. This is a story about overfeeding guests, hiding effort, and the inherited performance of hospitality.
