I was watching an ad for Hero Pleasure featuring Alia Bhatt riding through the countryside on her little scooter. When the ad film ended, I thought that Alia is a great cast for this. She looks young and innocent in the film, almost devoid of makeup and her hair flying away in the wind. She personifies a carefree young girl, the target audience for this product. The tagline of the product, “Why should boys have all the fun” is quite catchy and sums up the brand positioning very well.
In comparison, when I think back about Priyanka Chopra’s ad for the same product, I remember thinking she does not have the right look. Sure enough, when I saw the TVC on youtube again, I realised that Priyanka had over styled hair (albeit in a trendy way) and too much makeup on. Dark eyes, false lashes and perfectly applied lipstick does not belong on a girl’s face when she is headed to college. What do you think?
