Mommy Tip:ย If you are out of dry shampoo and have no time to wash and dry your hair, then get some baby powder and apply to the root of your hair. Baby powder soaks up excess oil from your scalp better than anything else but it also leaves the hair looking grey. For dark hair, add a little cinnamon powder or cocoa powder so that it blends well with your hair colour2. Bright Lipsticks Never ever underestimate the power of a bright lipstick. If you find the right shade for yourself, it can work as a facial! No matter what your skin tone is, no matter what your favoured colour is, no matter what your budget is, you would be able to find a bright lipstick that would add a twinkle to your eye and make you look put together. Trust me, after owning about a 100 lipsticks since I began wearing makeup, I know. For my skin colour (a warm toned NC41), I really like a bright pink like Sugar Cosmetics Matte as Hell lip crayon in Mary Poppins and MAC Chilli orย MAC Retro Matte Ruby Wooย for red. For an easy put together look that you can sport everyday, just do your base, mascara on the eyes and a bright lipstick. You can just alter the colour of the lipstick to have a different look everyday without spending more than five minutes on your makeup every morning. 3. Face Mist I must admit that this is a recent addition to my beauty stash and I have mentally kicked myself for not trying it before! I actually thought that face mist was the most useless product but oh boy was I wrong. Face mists give your face a boost of hydration while making you feel fresh instantly. It is a great on the go product and one you can use even when you have makeup on. I especially like products like Mac Fix+ that double up as a makeup setting spray orย Exel Herbal Purifying and Toning Lotion that multi tasks as a toner too. A light spritz of these will soften your makeup and give you an instant pick me up.
Mommy Tip: Mix 2 parts rose-water with one part glycerine and add it to a spray bottle for a cool DIY face mist. This one smells divine and I bet you would not be able to stop yourself from using this multiple times a day4. Powder Foundation Powder Foundations are a blessing for touch ups on the go. However, many pressed powders like MAC Studio Fix and NYX Stay Matte are good enough to be used on their own. Cream and liquid bases take a while to blend. Powder goes on much easier. If you are worried about your skin going dry or appearing cakey, just spritz some face mist and voila! You have your base done in a matter of seconds. Most powder foundations will not last you the day though. You will most likely need to nip to the washroom for a mid-day touch up. 5. Cream Concealer This product has been my makeup workhorse and I kid you not. I use Boi-ing Industrial Strength Concealer by Benefit and love it to bits. I can use it in the under eye area, to cover blemishes and even use thin layer buffed into moist skin as a foundation. As far as multi tasking products go, this one really takes the cake for me. In fact,ย if I had to go somewhere with just enough room to carry two makeup products, I would carry this and a bright lipstick. That is it! So that is it. Those are my 5ย must have beauty products for working mothers. If you are an Indian girl and are wondering why Kajal or Kohl did not make it to this list, there are several reasons. One is that if worn heavily on the lower waterline, kohl drags the eye down and can make you look sleepy instead of fresh and awake. The second is that it smudges. During the course of a working day, you want to avoid constantly looking at your kohl. Lastly, it needs to be removed at the end of the day with a proper cleanser and eye makeup remover. Removing kohl is a lot of work! So, if you are short on time, give your trusted kohl a miss and go for some mascara or liner instead. The products I mentioned here work for anyone generally short on time but more specifically for women who are trying to juggle several balls at once. I completely agree with you. There’s no need to be a slob just because you are a mom. I know you have restricted yourself to just 5 products but I think perfume is an absolute must……
