My baby is now 6 months old!!! By jove, time flies…. Hubby said he’ll recommend me for a bravery award in August…. 🙂 And she giggled…. so cute… Just looking at her sleeping peacefully induces so much love in my heart… now I know why they say motherhood is the bet experience 🙂

About a decade back, I told a senior people leader

About a decade back, I told a senior people leader that there is no work life balance. Some times, your work till take you precedence and sometimes, the personal life will.

I thought, they’d agree with me. This was a leader I observed from a distance and admired. But then, they said no. Work has to come first. If you don’t display this at work, you won’t grow. To say that I was surprised, is putting it mildly. I thought it was a rather obvious thing. Apparently, it wasn’t. The job must be your number one priority. No matter what is going on in your life. For months afterward, this conversation stayed in my mind. It explained things that I saw.

But I wanted more. A fulfilling career and a rich personal life. Over the years, I have come to work with people who share my views. Balance - it is hard to strike, but something I strive for.

This weekend, at the We Convention, held by @we.council I heard one of the speakers @mirnaarif Mirna Arif share the same view. Sometimes, your career needs more attention, sometimes, your personal life. It is an imbalance, she said. Both will never be equal. Hearing her took me back to the conversation I began this story with.

I realised something I had missed back then. To each of us, work life balance means a different thing. We look at work life balance from our own lenses. For some it could mean a workout to start their day. For some, time spent with their kids. For some, it could be meeting friends, or reading, or a hobby, a side hustle. A leader who can see this, and empathize with the team, allow them the balance they desire, will have a happy team.

Spotted this fellow at @secretgardenivy . I used to be so scared of cats and dogs. But not so much anymore. This guy came up to me and walked around my legs. I learnt that it meant he liked my aura.

Give me an excuse to wear a saree and I will. Even in Dubai. Even in 21 degrees (which is cold for a Bombay Girl)

This pure crepe saree is 16 years old. It was a gift for my wedding trousseau, and bought at @chhabra555india in Delhi. The saree was white with mukaish work done already and it had to be dyed. I was going thru a blue, turquoise phase then and hence picked out this colour. It turned out to be such a unique shade.

I kept my makeup and accessories minimal to let the saree shine. I was also going to be at a networking event and did not want to end up looking like a Christmas tree.

When I moved to #Dubai two years back, I knew almo

When I moved to #Dubai two years back, I knew almost no one here. A few acquaintances, a few old friends, and a few old colleagues. Being in a remote job, I wouldn’t see anyone who didn’t live in house for days on end.

My kids school helped me expand my circle, new acquaintances and friends came about. Then, I started attending professional networking and conferences. I just love the energy at these places. Especially meeting women entrepreneurs and founders.

I’ve made the most of @stepconference Day 1. Hope today will be as fulfilling.

Stepping back in time at @riverlanddubai ‘s enchanting French village, where every corner is a nod to a bygone era. 🏡✨ The facades here are crafted to tell the story of old-world charm. I wandered these cobblestoned paths, wrapped in the aura of an old European village.

To escape into a slow and languid world, in the middle of a bustling metropolis like Dubai, is a marvel in itself. It is amazing how much impact our surroundings can have.

#2yearsago I was crossing my fingers just as I was about to head into lasik surgery with @drmehtahimanshu

The procedure was smooth. Dr Himanshu was playing old Hindi songs in the room softly, his staff knew what to do. The atmosphere was relaxed and gave me the comfort they’ve done this many times. Instantly reassuring.

I haven’t worn prescription glasses since.
