I did Guest Blogging… TWICE! #MicroblogMondays #MondayMusings

Hi all of you! If you have ever Googled “How to increase website traffic?” am sure Guest Blogging appeared in the list. I was intrigued by the idea of guest blogging but realised that it is easier said than done. My take on guest blogging is that you cannot do it on just any blog. The content has to be relevant to the blog where you are going to post. For example, you wouldn’t put a lipstick review on a technology blog. Right? Or the best MBA courses on a gratitude and meditation blog? You get the drift. Right? I am a lifestyle blogger so I blog about tonnes of different things. Not having a Niche is double edged sword. Finding relevant blogs is tough! When you do find a blog that you like, you need to be able to connect with the blogger. They have to like you as much as you like them (or maybe a bit less) to allow you to guest blog!

Anks did Guest Blogging

I am lucky to have found so many great bloggers on Twitter , Facebook and Indiblogger (Hello, shameless self promotion) and connected with them. I bounced Guest Blogging Ideas with Sania and Mithila and both of them were equally enthusiastic about the idea. And so, I ended up guest blogging on both their sites!

Mithila and her alter ego Fabulous blog at The World Through The Specs of Fabulus1710 and is a Potterhead. Naturally, my post had to be Harry Potter Related. I blogged about My Favourite Potter Moments from each book.

Sania is a gorgeous working mother of an adorable 8 year old. Her blog All Things Gud is truly about all things good in life. Food, Fashion, Home Decor, Parenting. You name it. We blogged about Selfies! She doesn’t like the Selfie Mania and I am a bit of a Selfie Queen. Read both our views about whether Selfies are an irritating fad or harmless fun

I had super fun doing these posts and collaboration with these women. What are your thoughts on Guest Blogging? Would you like to do Guest Blogging for Lifestyle of A Professional? If yes, give me a shout out using the contact form below. Read guest blogs about parenting by Shradhha here.

  1. Nice pointers Ankita. Never tried guest blogging. Even mine is a lifestyle blog though i focus more on book reviews and travelogues. Since i blog on different things, its difficult to narrow down and know blogs that are nearer to my niche.

    1. Hey Ramya, I hear you girl! But the best piece about lifestyle blogs is that you get to meet so many new people and make lovely friends 🙂

  2. You’re so right! Guest blogging is a great way to get your name out there in the Blogosphere. I’ve done it a few times – once for Corinne’s “Everyday Gyaan” site and once for Blog-A-Rhythm’s A to Z Challenge this past April. The next one will be on Sept. 27, over at Jingle, Jangle, Jungle. What sort of articles are you interested in hosting on your site, Ankita?

  3. I have done guest blogging only once and it was good only because all I had to share was about my blogging journey. So it didn’t matter the usual tone of the blog, I just had to be myself. I haven’t invited anyone to guest blog over at my space either. Right now I think that’s best for me. 🙂

  4. So today I have got your name Ankita 🙂 I did two guest posts in the past. I would like to share with you that I felt a pressure while doing that. The pressure was about will my thoughts in the post go well with the general tone of the hosting blog? How will it be perceived by the host blog’s readers? So for the time being I like being in my own space.

Hope you enjoyed reading this post. Let me know your thoughts :)
