Today’s Prompt: What is the hardest subject to photograph?

I have always found photographing people most difficult. Kids don’t stay still and it is challenging but fun to photograph them. Most kids are oblivious of the photographs. Those who pose do so with extreme confidence. The shy ones hide in a corner and don’t allow you to picture them at all. The pictures though (when they are not blurred) look great because of this.

The people who are self conscious are the hardest. Many people believe they do not photograph well and are so uncomfortable in front of the camera that their stance and expression plays spoilsport. I find such people the hardest to click. Their candid shots are good but one look at the camera and they freeze. Remember the Chandler smile from Friends? I actually know people like that.

Another subject that is very hard to photograph is me. Taking self potraits or selfies with a point and shoot or DSLR is tough!! Mostly when I am travelling alone I ask strangers to click my pictures. That is the only way I have been able to get decent shots of myself. I could have bought a selfie stick but I did not because

1. I find them silly
2. How else would I strike conversations with other people and make new friends?
