All those book lovers who read Indian authors and especially fantasy fiction, have surely heard about Amish Tripathi. If you haven’t you are missing out on something. He has been called India’s first Literary pop star! He zoomed into fame with The Shiva Trilogy. The Shiva Trilogy was Amish’s ode to Shiva. He portrayed Shiva as a man, a strategist, a leader. His next book is about Lord Ram and is called Scion of Ikshvaku. The series is called Ram Chandra Series.
Scion of Ikshvaku Trailer
The media machinery is going all out to promote the book. Consider this. The cover art was released by Akshay Kumar in March 2015. Then there was a twitterview where Karan Johar interviewed Amish Tripathi on Twitter. The ads for the book were placed in IPL 2015. They even created a trailer for promoting the book! Check it out below.
These are the activities I remember. I think the only thing that is left is for Amish to appear on Comedy Nights with Kapil! (That just might happen. No?)
I was very impressed with the trailer. It is made as well as an A grade movie trailer. Extremely stylised with great use of lighting, music, symbols and reciting shlokas. It certainly piques my interest in the book. Amish fans would be able to spot similarities in artwork between Scion of Ikshvaku and The Shiva Trilogy. I would not be surprised if they have used the same model to play protagonist on the covers of both books. What do you think guys? I remember someone had once asked Amish on twitter about The Shiva Trilogy covers. He had especially appreciated the model!
Scion of Ikshvaku Release Date is June 22, 2015
Are you excited about Scion of Ikshvaku? I sure am! Having been a fan of Amish ever since I read The Immortals of Meluha. I was quite blown away by the powerful imagination and fluid storytelling. As someone who dabbles in writing fiction, I hope someday I will be half as good as him. A girl can dream. Right? The book is out on June 22, 2015 so mark the date!
If you aren’t excited yet, read this description –
Ram Rajya. The Perfect Land. But perfection has a price. He paid that price.
3400 BCE. INDIA
Ayodhya is weakened by divisions. A terrible war has taken its toll. The damage runs deep. The demon King of Lanka, Raavan, does not impose his rule on the defeated. He, instead, imposes his trade. Money is sucked out of the empire. The Sapt Sindhu people descend into poverty, despondency and corruption. They cry for a leader to lead them out of the morass. Little do they appreciate that the leader is among them. One whom they know. A tortured and ostracised prince. A prince they tried to break. A prince called Ram.He loves his country, even when his countrymen torment him. He stands alone for the law. His band of brothers, his Sita, and he, against the darkness of chaos.
Will Ram rise above the taint that others heap on him? Will his love for Sita sustain him through his struggle? Will he defeat the demon Lord Raavan who destroyed his childhood? Will he fulfil the destiny of the Vishnu?
Does that not sound like fodder for a great tale? I can only guess that like The Shiva Trilogy, Amish uses the mythological characters in Scion of Ikshvaku and spins a whole new story.
