This #karwachauth I wore my engagement saree. It is a heavily embroidered number. So I wished to keep everything else simple. But once I started to get ready, just kept adding one thing after another and this is the final look. Lots of bangles and bling. The makeup is minimal though.

Blessed to have had a day of rest and relaxation with the family. Then girlie time with some new friends and old.

I said No today. To someone close, to someone I treat with respect, to someone I make allowances for. And today, I thought the ask was unwarranted. So I did something I don’t normally do. I said No. I did not justify or explain. I just said, I can’t do it.

Later, I began to feel bad. I was already making excuses for someone else’s behavior. And then, I caught myself. Maybe it is the people pleaser side of me, maybe it is the societal conditioning to say Yes. Maybe it is both.

It was a big deal for me. I defined a boundary today. And it is okay. I need to make my peace with it. There may be more of you out there. In the same headspace. Don’t blame yourselves.

My go to makeup look lately. My eyes are dry and irritated so nothing on the eyes. Not even kajal which has been my go to product since early 2000s!

A sheer coverage glowy foundation. In this pic, I am using the Sephora Best Skin Ever Foundation. I love how easy to apply it is and lasts all day. It hydrates my skin and does not oxidize on me. A winner by @sephoramiddleeast . In my 40s, my go to full coverage mattifying foundation no longer works. My skin used to be really oily in my 20s and 30s, so I could never pull this off. Also, glowing skin is trending so Matte looks dated.

I am going through a muted lip phase. Most of my current lip colours are variations of peach, pinky brown, mauve etc. Here I am wearing @maybellinearabia Maybelline Superstay Vinyl Ink in Peachy.

I have loads of blush on. Something new I do these days . It helps add colour to my skin. Here I am wearing my trusted Lilas D’Or by Bourjois. My favourite blush since 2010! @bourjoismiddleeast

Glimpses of #Baku Old City or #Icherisheher

1: cobbled streets just outside miniature book museum
2: courtyard of The palace of the Shivanshahs

5: architectural details, apparently these were studded with precious stones and hand painted tiles in the times of glory

We went in the middle of August and it was too hot to walk around. The distances are small, but the weather was a dampener. If you have kids, the area is not stroller friendly at all.

The palace has a small entry, for visiting inside and looking at the museum. More than the exhibit, roaming in the palace corridors and rooms was worth the fee. We explored on our own and it took slightly over an hour to see the palace.

July was hot, chaotic, invigorating, exhausting and lovely all at once.

1. I tried dressing up like Gen Z, not once, not twice but thrice. Loose jeans have entered the closet
2. One gorgeous Ilkal saree was worn.
3. Lots of people were met. For work, for conversations, few pictures were taken.
3. One swimming session was attempted before realising the 200 meter walk to the pool in the heat is not a good idea.
4. Equal amounts #gratitude and #frustration was experienced about being a work from home mom
