Hi girls, I got this blush for my b’day last week and have been wearing it everyday ever since. I love how natural it looks. The shimmer scared me under the store lights but I have been wanting this ever since Cynthia wrote about it on her blog saying this is a Nars Orgasm Dupe. When …

San Francisco is cloudy, foggy and misty. At least it was when I visited last July. It was peak summer in the rest of the northern hemisphere and there I was bundled up in my thick wool coat! In the midst of all that grey, I found moments of vivid colour and vivid beauty! Check …

Backpacking in India

Backpacking in India is not a common phenomenon. If you are a non Indian looking …

Cee’s Fun Photo Challenge – Perspective

May 27, 2015 May 26, 2015 / Photography / By Ankita

Perspective is… A different angle of looking at the same things…   Focusing on a part of the whole…   An unusual representation of commonly accepted things…   Zooming in to see the details…   An unlikely combination of things…   This is my entry for Cee’s Fun Photo Challenge for this week. The theme …

Wore this shirt dress to a networking meetup by @y Wore this shirt dress to a networking meetup by @yveslobo_connect recently. It just went with the vibe of the event. The compliments I got confirmed it!

Today, when I was chatting with @jaineegandhi , I told her I wore something I’d never have picked a few years back. A loose flowing outfit like this, is something I admired from afar. Not for my plus sized frame. I needed my clothes to be more fitted. Else I’d look frumpy.

It took me four decades to learn to carry a dress like this. And a lot of experimentation to be able to style it. I called this outfit a Green Party. Everything from my necklace to the bracelet to the shoes is green.

Incidentally, I don’t remember where I bought this dress. It was a shopping day, we were looking for a specific tee shirt for the kiddo for a school event and went to several fast fashion and supermarkets around. At one of those, hubby spotted this dress and said, this is so you. I agreed with him, and wondered when it became me.

I’ve always liked plain outfits, with textured fabrics. Minimal prints - polka dots, stripes, checks or very light floral. I’d buy prints too, but never my first choice. So this linen number just fit the bill.

What do you guys think about this? How has your style evolved over the years?

Keep this side of you hidden, they said. I listene Keep this side of you hidden, they said. I listened, until I didn’t, and how it reshaped my career.

I’ve been a blogger since 2004. Yup 2004. I’ve seen the days of blogging when people would write whatever struck their fancy. Stories, Poems, Life experiences, political views, sports commentary… those days, we had chat parties in the comment section. I wrote a serialized story over 6 months, and posted as I wrote. Well, you get the picture. Right?

I was asked to keep my blogging hidden at work. It was a distraction they said. I already had the disadvantage of being married, a mother with a small kid. On top of that, I have this hobby! It didn’t matter that I blogged in my own time - late evenings, weekends, holidays. It took up mind space. And that means I am not committed enough to my work. I was naive, I believed it.

Until it struck me that my writing has made me a better communicator. I can articulate better. The blogging meetups and events help me shed inhibitions, and learn to speak to strangers. The brand campaigns gave me access to the inner workings of PR and what later became influencer agencies. These were valuable skills I picked up because of my hobby.

And then the world of blogging changed. It went from being a writer’s space to a techie’s space. SEO, Email Marketing, Segmentation, Content - I learnt it all in the hobby world. This happened alongside my career progression in Business Process Automation. That is where I learnt structure, stakeholder management, and corporate politics.

Together, the two culminated into my move to Digital Marketing, with a focus on Marketing Operations and Automation. The journey of Telecom Engineer to Marketing Head needed both these paths to collide. They did. But only because I stopped hiding one side from the other. We humans are marvellously complex. We have multiple shades. So why present a uni-dimensional aspect of your personality at work?

As I build Hiya Global Group, I am bringing all my skills and talents to the table. Let’s chat to see how we can put those to help in improving your business!

My dad had travelled to Chennai for a work trip and mom asked him to visit Kumaran stores. Somehow, he picked rhe right shade, the right amount of zari. Any less and it would feel as festive, any more and it would feel too blingey. As far as I remember, he picked it out on his own. This was 2007! It was before the days of WhatsApp video calls. So he picked this out on his own.

Over the years, I’ve worn this often, and every single time, the saree has earned me tonnes of compliments. You can see the previous occasions. I’ve never had to think about styling it much!

The latest @wmcdxb meetup reminded me why I keep showing up - thoughtful conversations, practical takeaways, and a community that feels real.

@priyammahajan2787 shared sharp, simple truths about brand building. No jargon. Just the kind of wisdom that makes you pause and rethink.

What I liked most — this wasn’t just a keynote. We got into group exercises and applied what we heard, right there.

And no, @nehaagarwal28 hasn’t signed me on as WMC’s brand ambassador. I just really like the space this community holds.

Also, I Love the pictures Tanya Anand took. Thank you for making us look fab!

Let me know what you think…
“B2B marketing is boring.” Only if you think i “B2B marketing is boring.”
Only if you think it’s supposed to look like a Nike ad.

The truth? You’re not selling sneakers.
You’re selling complex products to multiple stakeholders.
Finance. IT. Legal. Ops. Leadership.

This isn’t about impulse. It’s about alignment.

Until you’re a household name in your category, you don’t need to be clever.
You need to be clear.
Again and again.

That’s where the real work happens.
And honestly? It’s my favorite part of the job.
